Wildflower Bouquet Cards - Donna Lewis

Wildflower Bouquet Cards - Donna Lewis

Tania Ridgwell |

Hello crafty friends! I’ve been a bit quiet here, as my day job as editor of a school magazine has taken over my life. The magazine is done now, and I have my life back! I have a pair of cards to share with you today that use the Sketchy Floral stamps from Paper Rose. These two stamps are similar in style, and work well together – Sketchy Florals -Thanks, and Sketchy Florals – Hello. I’ve mixed and matched them both here, but these cards could easily be made with one or the other if you have a favourite bloom.

To start with, I stamped the images onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar white paper in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured them with my Copic markers. I used a limited palette of three colour groupings. When I wanted to add some more variation in the greens, I combined the colours I already had, rather than introduce something new. If you’d like to see some of the colouring, ( I edited out lots of repetition to save your time), as well as the the colour choices, I’ve got a Youtube video up for you here. (why I chose the month they were demolishing three apartment buildings next door to start doing videos with voiceovers is beyond me!)

These stamps all come with matching dies, but mine were held up in the post from Australia, so I ended up fussy cutting these out with my scissors. (and then the dies arrived the next day!) Because of the lovely loose flowers and the sketchy style, I wanted to make cards that looked like they belong in a meadow, so I chose a Kraft coloured background paper (Neenah desert storm is my favourite – it’s more sandy coloured than red). I cut panels using the third largest die from this Stitched Rectangles set.

I stuck everything down with a mix of glue and foam tape. Even the flowers that I used foam tape on still have just glue on the stems. so that it would lay flat under the twine. The sentiments come from the same Sketchy Florals stamp sets.

My favourite thing about these cards? I think it’s the wings on the dragonflies. I love how the yellow and blue played together to make them look translucent.

Until next time, stay safe my friends. I hope that you are getting some crafty time, a little sunshine and a little rain! If you enjoyed this card, and would like to see more, feel free to visit my Instagram feed, where I post all my cards.

Blessings,

Donna
