When I placed my order from Paper Rose a month ago I knew I had to have this Poinsettia Corner stamp because I had seen some beautiful inspiration as well as the fact I was in love with the collaboration set with Simon Say Stamp for Stamptember that I had the pleasure of playing with, I knew I wanted to do a similar looking card.
I decided to keep it clean and simple for these cards and allow the new products to shine through.
I started out by heat embossing the beautiful poinsettia images on to white and black heavy cardstock with gold embossing powder. I then pulled out my Finetec pearlescent paints and cosmic shimmer gilding polish to paint in the flowers. For the black cards I used stickily the Finetec watercolor paints, the paper held up pretty well considering it wasn’t watercolor paper.
For the white versions I started off painting them by watering down some of the Cosmic shimmer polishes, it was ok but I was not quite happy with it, so I had to go over them with the watercolor paint and this took a few layers to get a look I was happy with. Due to this, the cards took a little longer to come together then I would have liked.
Once all the painting was done I needed to figure out how I was going to put these together. I decided to use some of the beautiful new paper packs, I used both the Festive basics and the Black and white pack. I love their paper because it's thicker than the average pattern paper.
For the black and gold versions of the card, I cut down numerous layers as I really wanted it all to stand out. the card base measured 5 x 6 and was created using Schoolhouse red 100 lb. cardstock. I then cut down some gold mirror card stock to 5 6/8 x 4 ¾ the pattern paper was then trimmed down to slightly under the previous measurements. The black painted and embossed image was die cut using the stitched rectangle die that measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8, I once more trimmed down a red layer and gold layer slightly bigger and mounted the painted panel onto.
For the white cards, I created bases to measure 5½ x 4½ and cut down some black and white striped pattern paper to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, and some more schoolhouse red cardstock to 3¾ x 5, finally I ran the main panel through my die cutting machine once more using stitched rectangle die, this really just finished it off and took care of some little painting boo-boos lol.
For the sentiments on the cards, I heat embossed the bottom three using the “Wishing you a Merry Christmas” from the winter tree set and some Ranger Tinsel embossing powder in red and gold.
For the bigger card, I decided to use the Cosmic Shimmer enchanted gold gilding polish to stamp with on to black cardstock, for this I used my misti stamping tool, as I had to stamp it a few times to get a crisp look. I decided to edge the side of it as well just for a little extra something and pop it on to some red cardstock.
Finally, it was time to assemble everything, I adhered more of the layers flat to each of the bases, only popping up the main panel and the sentiments on the black cards with foam tape.
I have linked to all the products I used below.
I hope you are inspired by my creations, I really would love to hear from you so please leave a comment below.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
