Good Times – Hanging ornament

Hello my friends. I’m so excited to officially launch the Good Times cardmaking series. I’ve been playing with this idea for a year or so, and it’s finally happening. The main event is over on my YouTube channel, where you can watch me make all three cards, and join in the challenge if you’d like. My channel is Donnaisplayingpaper. The more the merrier! The first set of cards feature a stamp called Hanging Ornaments from Paper Rose Studio.

The challenge goes like this – three cards, with different times for each. (Hence the name – more on that in a bit!) The first card I’m filming in real time, with 5 minutes on the clock, and counting! Then a ‘mid time’ card (20 to 30 minutes), and finally a card with no limits. Here’s the video of all three cards.

This first card is a five minute wonder. It feels like a rush when you can see the time counting down, although the card didn’t need the panic! I mixed heat embossing with ink blending, and some water spatters at the end.

The second card has no exact time limit, and no timer running, but it will be about 20-30 minutes. For today’s challenge, I chose to make a watercolour card layering the colours lightly on the background, and using deeper colours for the Christmas Baubles. I used gold embossing powder for the baubles, which gives them a real festive look! The sentiments are from the Crisp Christmas Sentiments set.

Finally, a birthday card, using the same Christmas stamp set. I turned the stamp upside down and made the baubles into helium balloons. I then used my Copic markers to make a rainbow of balloons. If you’re someone that has only a small number of markers, I’ve used a few techniques on the video that you might find helpful when stretching those markers to make new colours. The Fine Script Happy Birthday is perfect for the slimline card, especially when coloured with the same Copic colours.

That’s all for today. Please let me know in the comments if you have an idea for a product that would be fun to used for this ‘Good Times’ series.

Until next time, stay safe, and have fun!

Blessings,
Donna
