Hello crafty friends. Donna here, with a set of four cards that are made with one sketch one die, but three different techniques. I chose the design of each to represent the different seasons. It seemed appropriate, since I made the cards in Spring here in Japan, am blogging this at the start of Summer, and will be moving house to Australia and Victorian Winter in just a few weeks. Read on…
….or, if you’d prefer you can see the video here.
All of the cards have the same basic design, but I changed the colours and techniques as I went to make four different cards. The basic sketch is a rectangle panel, with the Abstract Trees Die from Paper Rose Studio as the feature. I also added some enamel dots to many of the cards as well as a Happy Birthday sentiment. Here’s Spring.
Summer was the same technique as Spring, but with the addition of some butterflies from the Etched Butterflies die set. I also changed the tree trunks to brown to represent our Australian Summer.
For Autumn, I only used the front die pieces, and made my own spattered watercolour panel to go behind them. You can see how I used water to give different spatter types on the video.
Lastly, for Winter, I made the trees into little shaker elements. I used double sided tape where it would touch the acetate, and I also cut some of the branches out of the back pieces so that the shaker elements would have enough space to move around. I used Ice Rink Glitter from Pink and Main for this card, with silver foil card at the front for a frosty scene.
Here are all four cards again. You can see that they’re the same, yet different!
That’s all for today. I hope you’ve enjoyed these simple cards, and can think of ways to stretch this sketch in your own crafty way. Until next time, whatever the season, may your day be super.
Blessings,
Donna
