Hello crafty friends.
I have been getting inky over the weekend with a new stamp from Paper Rose, this perfectly sized wreath. The weather was finally sunny and a little warmer, so I alternated between sanding a table and crafting, giving my wrists some well earned breaks! In the process of doing up the table, I found another great use for a heat tool – stripping varnish!
Today’s card combines ink blending with Copic colouring. I first laid the Wreath Stamp from Paper Rose Studio over my paper to get a general idea of where to blend my two inks. I used a red (Candied Apple) and a lime green (Altenew Parrot) and blended where the ribbons and leaves would be, spreading out my circle to be larger than the image. I then stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink . The Copic colouring was done very simply using mostly two colour blends. You could also do this colouring step with coloured pencils if you don’t have markers.
I added some white gel pen highlights to the berries and bow, and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in Gold before very carefully fussy cutting around the edge, leaving a small white border.
I cut the panel using a Pierced Rectangles die, and popped the sentiment up with foam tape. I mounted the panel onto gold shimmer cardstock from Paper Rose before adding to a white card base.
It’s amazing how much a layer of ink at the bottom can help with colouring to smooth it out and help it flow. Perhaps you’d like to try the idea.
Until next time, stay safe, and stay crafty,
Blessings
