Hello Crafty friends.
I have some not-so-prickly cactus cards to share with you today, using a couple of different colouring media – pencils and Copics, and featuring two stamp and die sets from Paper Rose Studio.
For this first card, I have used my Polychromos pencils to no line colour two of the cacti from the Cactus Greetings stamp set. I coloured in layers, laying down my highlights in white first, then coming into the shadow areas and then blending out from there.
I cut these out using the matching dies. For the card, I cut a circle from a piece of white card, and layered this onto a pale blue card base. The cacti are popped up with some foam tape, as is the white panel.
This second card was coloured with Copics, which gives a much more vibrant look. (As does the fact that it is stamped onto white paper, rather than grey above and below).
I used a black sentiment strip to ground my images, but I didn’t set them all in a row on the strip, but rather gave them different heights to add some interest and flow.
Finally, this card uses the larger cactus from the Cactus Quotes stamp set, once again no line coloured with pencils. This fitted perfectly with the Victorian window, which cuts a window which opens. You can see that I’ve poked some of the leaves behind the opening. I really couldn’t decide where to put a sentiment on this card so I’m leaving it blank for the moment.
These cacti are really fun images to colour. One of my favourite things about cacti is the huge range of colours that they come in. This makes them really fun to get creative with!
